LSU Kicks Ass, Literally
So did you know LSU had a boxing group/squad/pride/gaggle/litter/whatever you call a boxing team? I didn’t, but now I do and feel smarter for it. And not only did we have a team, we won individual national championships with “Pee Wee” Moss in 1949 and Tad Thrash in 1950(kick ass boxing name). LSU will be honoring Mr. Moss this weekend by having him throw out the first pitch on Saturday against Florida.
The BCS is like Communism

Ok, look. I’ll be honest with you. BMOT50 made me drink on a week night last night and I feel like crap so I can’t really think of any clever/witty things to write for you today. I can actually feel my pulse in my forehead and I think I wet the bed last night so things aren’t too great in UDR land right now. So anyhoo, I found a little article stating that the BCS is like communism and my dynamite commentary on the subject is……yep. It seems that the majority of people agree with me so take that individualism. You can read the article after the jump.
LSU #8 in Playboy’s Top 10 Party Schools

I would like to start this post off by stating that, yes, I do read the articles, I have shaken hands with Bigfoot, gone fishing with the Loch Ness Monster and many other myths of that nature. Playboy’s annual top ten party schools list has been released and our very own LSU has been ranked at number 8. Which is right between 6 and 9. Get it? Playboy…sexual innuendo…no?…whatever. You may be asking yourself, “I thought this was a sports blog?!?” Well, my good friend lsupoop told me that MILF hunting is now considered a sport in many places so I thought this post would work for our site and our placement on this list has a lot to do with tailgating during football season. The entire list with pictures is here, view at your own risk. Once again, a great showing for the SEC with 3 in the top 10. So raise your glasses to binge drinking and bad decisions! (because if you went to LSU you’re probably drinking) safer list after the jump

Baseball Game Rescheduled, Mother Nature is a Smelly Pirate Hooker
If you flipped it on Cox Sports last night or went up to the Box to catch a baseball game you were SOL because there wasn’t one and you should be hit over the head with a hammer because you should have noticed the lights off and no cars in the parking lot. Apparently the rain on that side of town was bad enough to cancel the game and reschedule it for tonight at 6:30. Your tickets for Tuesday’s game will be honored so bring those with you if you plan to attend. The bad news for those of you who can’t make it is that it will not be televised for LSU vs Tulane part deux. The weather looks to be nice tonight so hopefully the Tigers can extend their win streak to six.

Miles 28th Best Coach in the Nation

Well hello all. I know it’s been a while but unfortunately we LSUtopians have to hold day jobs to keep bringing you these literary masterpieces each day, so we’re a little behind. I came across a story the other day on Rivals that ranked Les “The Hat” Miles as the 28th best coach in the nation. It was a great showing for SEC coaches with 6 in the top 30, but I found myself wondering if that was an appropriate rank or should Les be higher in the coaching food chain and the answer is…..I had no idea (kick ass run-on sentence, eat me!). My gut reaction was to think he was hosed and should be in the top ten due to stats like this: three straight 10 wins seasons, 4 – 0 in bowl games, an SEC Championship, oh, and that little National Championship thingy. After I removed my purple and gold blinders, I started to wonder if Lesticles could win with the talent that Jim Leavitt at USF, Greg Schiano at Rutgers or Mark “Me Hungry” Mangino at Kansas had to work with (all actual AP photos of these coaches). And hey, it’s easy to rag on Les, just look at the picture at the top of this post and listen to his interviews and that’s not what I ‘m looking to do. jump

What a Weekend!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend and are as reluctantly back at work as I am. I spent my little break on the beach trying for the World Records in foot and thigh sunburn. How ya like that visual? All that aside, what a hell of a weekend we have coming up here in the Red Stick for LSU sports. The spring game, men’s tennis, baseball, track, softball – -you name it and it’s being played this weekend. So even all you ADD LSU fans can keep busy, if not, bring a ball of yarn or something to play with. The good folks with the LSU Athletic Department are going to reward you for your rabid sports following by offering prizes for attending four or more events this weekend. Here’s how it works: print out your Super Tiger Fan Card (we like to say super awesome fierce Tiger Fan Card here at LSUtopia), bring it to the events you attend and get the people at the Fan Zone to give you a little sticker saying you were actually there. After you have attended four events for the weekend you automatically get a T-shirt (which I bet will have a pic of that mega-badass super tiger from the pic above. Bring it on Big Al from Alabama with your big, fat grey ass) and an entry to win any of the following things: after jump
The Pride of Pflugerville
Micah Gibbs has been named the SEC player of the week after having a monster weekend at Georgia going .444 with two bombs and 4 RBI and .385 with 2 homers, four RBI and four runs scored for the week. Micah comes to LSU from Pflugerville, Texas (nope, not a typo, it really is spelled that way). What?!? You’ve never heard of Pflugerville?!? Come on! The Pflugerville Panthers won 55 consecutive football games in the years 1958-1962…and you call yourselves sports fans! Anyhoo, a hearty way to go is in order for the Pride of Pflugerville, Micah Gibbs.Quick note, the Tigers should be easily handling up on Grambling tonight at 6:30 in the Box. Gonna be great weather so grab a jacket and you all should get out and catch the game. And if you can’t, don’t forget you can watch it live!
LSUtopia’s ESPN Bracket Challenge Winner
Well March Madness is finally over and we have a winner for our first annual LSUtopia ESPN Bracket Challenge. It was a close race all the way to the finish with Leaky Wader 1 pulling out the win by only 50 points with 1450 over jtlagger 7′s 1400. Much like UNC this year, Leaky started off in first place, stumbled a bit and then eventually ended in first place. I ended the contest in 8th which might not seem too great, but I was purposely trying for 8th place so the joke’s on you. Being that Leaky is my future brother in law, I can’t get in to my typical sarcastic/smart ass rants like I normally do. My Granny always said, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all…but she also taught me this. So as I promised, your gift of my signed and personally messaged losing bracket will be sent out within the next week, oh, and you get the good piece of turkey at Thanksgiving this year. Thanks goes out to everyone who signed up to play and even though you lost, here’s a little parting gift just to say thanks. (except for lsupoop and BMOT50, damn, is this how yall picked your brackets this year?) after jump
