The number one collegiate baseball team in allll of the land, your LSU Tigers, improved to 7-0 yesterday as they swept Central Florida in front of 4,303 fans at the Box.  Leon Landry, Austin Nola, and Chad Jones all had solo shots while Jared Mitchell blasted two shots in the 16-0 route.  Austin Ross (2-0) got the win, shutting out UCF in six innings of work.  The Tigers hit the road for the first time as they take on UNO on Tuesday.

I mean really….is the football team really going to have the lowest post season ranking of the big 3?  If you say you called it, you lie….YOU LIE!!!!

LSU Baseball Ranked #1 in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

The LSU Tiger Baseball Team is ranked number one in the preseason poll released on Monday by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.  The complete poll can be seen here.  LSU edged out North Carolina by one point to claim the top spot.  Rice, Georgia, and Stanford round out the top five.

LSU is lead by several projected early round picks in the 2009 MLB draft such as OF Jared Mitchell, OF Blake Dean, and SS D.J. LaMahieu.  Also returning are standouts Micah Gibbs, Ryan Schimpf, Leon Landry, and Shawn Ochinko.  In all, the Tigers have eight starters returning from a team made it all the way to the College World Series in Omaha last year.

After struggling through a tough 7-5 football season this year, fans have something to look forward to in the new year.  The basketball team is 9-1, we currently have the #1 recruiting class in the nation, Brad Pevito is leaving – ending the dreaded co-defensive coordinator shit, and the baseball team is projected to be good.  Things are looking up.  Like Stevie Wonder says….Go Tigers!
