CFN’s ‘Way Too Early Bowl Predictions’ for 2009-2010
They do it every year around this time. The guys over at collegefootballnews.com come up with their ridiculous ‘Way Too Early Bowl Predictions’. This year is no different. Sure, it’s fun to think about the season ahead of time and try to come up with who you think will win it all and how the season will shake out. But…..
Truth is, no one ever knows. Do you remember the unbelievably wacky 2007 season, when LSU made it to the National Championship game on the last night of the season? Oh and by the way, I’m pretty sure these guys just give USC the automatic bid to the championship game every year and then just insert the hottest team from the year prior. This time around, it’s last year’s champs, Florida. More after the jump……
What does that say about USC?…… They’re good every year? Maybe. They’re a big fish in a crappy conference/pond? Yes. Personally, I think USC might struggle a bit this year. They’ve got Ohio State, Cal, Notre Dame (I know, big deal, right?), Oregon, and Arizona St. all on the road. They’ll have a brand new quarterback, and they just lost an entire NFL team to the NFL. It won’t be just a walk in the park for the Trojans.

Choklahoma Strikes Again
Big game Bob does it again. Stoops and his Sooners fell to the SEC Florida Gators last night to drop their 5th BCS game in a row including 3 national championship appearances in a row. Florida joins our LSU Tigers as the only teams to have won the BCS Championship 2 times. This gives the SEC the last 3 championships and 5 0f 11 since the inception of the BCS. Any debate on the best conference?
I also think that this bowl season has illustrated why the college football world really needs a playoff. As the season ended, all the pundits had the Big 12 South as the greatest thing since sliced bread. How did they fair in the bowls you ask. 1-3 with the one win being a last second TD by Texas over a fairly weak Ohio State team that got throttled by USC (Big 10 was 1-6 in bowl games this year). My point is that even though it seemed “obvious” that the best teams were in the Big 12 with three 11-1 teams, perhaps we could have known for sure by playing it off. I still think Florida is the best team overall, but a playoff would settle things the right way, on the field.
