Diagnosing the Tigers: Weekly analysis from the Bone Doc

Sorry again for the delay guys, been getting hammered at work all week.

I actually also got hammered during the game Saturday.  I was on call during the game, but I was able to watch the first half in the basement of the hospital.  After going to the OR for the entire second half, I was able to not know the result until one of my collegues that I work with ruined it for me.  I apparently did not miss much live.  However, just to show how ridiculously obsessed with LSU football that I am, when getting home at 5AM on Sunday morning after having been up all night without sleep and already knowing the score, I sill watched the game on TIVO (I think that sentence was a run on).  Even worse was the fact I was still getting upset at the TV and even took notes (Yes this is unfortunately true).

Here are some of my thoughts…..

LSU Basketball is just around the corner * Update

So I’m watching Sportscenter last night and my usual sports highlights were interrupted by….BASKETBALL highlights.  I was like, “WTF mate?”  I look at my watch, a calendar, the internets….something to clear my confusion.  Then it hit me.  Its damn near November.  Fuck…where did this year go?  Well, winter time means basketball and Tiger fans should be looking forward to the upcoming season as there is no way it could be as bad as last year.

Gone is the awesomely drunk John Brady and in is the very sober looking Trent Johnson.  If we can just flip the 13-18 from last year to 18-13 this year, the season would have to be considered a HUGE success.  The season starts on November 15 and LSUSports is celebrating 100 years of basketball by giving away season tickets at $100!

I really like watching the basketball team and we’ve produced some pretty decent talent.  We’ve got six guys on NBA opening day rosters (Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas, Stromile Swift, Shaq, Anthony Randolph, and Brandon Bass) and have had several more come in and out of the league.  Considering NBA rosters are pretty small, that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Hatch out for Saturday

Les Miles announced that Hatch will be out this Saturday against Tulane due to a leg injury he suffered against Georgia. Lee will start and most likely play the first half (hopefully he won’t be needed in the second half) and then we should see Jordan Jefferson. I’m excited to see Jefferson get some actual PT. It will be good to see what he can do, granted, it will be Tulane but I’m anxious nonetheless.

Hey BoneDoc! Hurry up and get down here. The injuries to our QB’s this season alone would make you a millionaire.

LSU Getting Over it and Moving On and the Highly Underrated SEC Gametime Weather Forecasts

The LSU Tigers showed what may be their true identity last Saturday afternoon in Tiger Stadium losing to Georgia 52-38.  The blame is being thrown around like the tomatoes at the famous ’La Tomatino’ tomato fight held in Spain once a year.  Pieces of the blame might be found on Jarrett Lee’s jersey for the two interceptions returned for touchdowns that he threw.  One of the INT’s thrown on the first pass of the game.  Blame could be placed on the defense for forgetting how to execute and make tackles.  Blame could be placed on the two coordinators of the defense, but according to head coach Les Miles after watching film, the defensive calls that were made were the right calls for the right situation, the players just didn’t execute.  The blame could also be placed on the fans themselves for holding lofty expectations and giving in to the so-called ‘experts’ on TV that tell us what to believe.

As fans, we get so excited in the preseason when someone on TV says that our team is great.

Week 9 SEC Picks Results: BMOT50 is totally awful

Another solid week for the boys at LSUtopia….well, unless your name is Bury me on the 50.  He’s the only one of the guys who is under .500 and has once again proven that he knows little about football (sorry BMOT50).  Sadly, our resident Tiger hater, LS Who? has jumped out into first place with a stellar 13-1 week.  I’m sure he’ll show his true colors soon enough, as we all know only LSU fans know anything about football.  Anywhoo, the results are after the jump.

Vote or Die Chuck Norris Style!

“If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you. If you can’t see Chuck Norris you may be only seconds away from death.”

I want some intense debate on this topic. There has been plenty of back and forth about this question so vote and then give us your reason for voting the way you did.
